throwing baseball beneath

bruised sky,

purpled with neglect;

cracked glovehands clasping and

un clasping:

bald leather exchange between

bike path forsaken –

                                                              last housewife jogger

                                                                    disappearing between folded trees

                  softpadding gym shoe cadence –

                                      father sun bends low

gimping through trees…

we are two shadows        flitting between two worlds:

                              sunned and       unsunned.

we have no words

but the childhood ball,

torn and sutured,

flung between our restless poles

smacking in the mitts;

smacking in descending night.
